We have made many improvements to our Silverline service since we launched its beta version in March and today we removed the beta label from its home page and at the same time introduced the beta version of several new features.
Monitoring resource consumption: You are now able to tag individual workloads and obtain detailed statistics on their consumption of server resources. This can help you understand application behavior and identify opportunities to improve server utilization, for example by using Silverline’s Harvesting capability to run background workloads on the same servers as your primary workloads.
Event handling: Software errors and unexpected events like peaks in demand can cause applications to exceed their expected resource consumption, causing failures or negatively impacting other workloads. Silverline now makes it possible to set triggers that go off when specified high or low resource consumption thresholds are crossed and initiate the desired action.
Together with the spare capacity harvesting capability that was available during our beta period, Silverline now offers a rich set of features to increase the utilization of your server resources, perform capacity planning and manage potential negative effects of unexpected application behavior.
We’ve now made Silverline our corporate web site, signaling that our main focus now is on delivering Silverline’s powerful capabilities through a “frictionless”, cloud/internet based deployment and business model, and that a lot of new features and further improvements are in the pipeline!
So check out our new capabilities and find out how these can help you.
